“We booked Gary for our Hakodate day tour and had an exceptional time. Gary took us to several fantastic local areas, an authentic lunch, a mountain summit, and the fort. We spoke extensively about various historical topics from the first shogunate to present day and he answered all my questions. Book Gary for your visit to Hakodate; your only regret will be that there isn’t enough time in the day. ”
“Gary was very thoughtful in planning everything out for us and made our day special. He even stayed on longer because we took a lot of time over lunch. Excellent guide.”
“Had a great time but the walk up from Motomachi was a bit steep for us, it would have been better to take it slower. having saud that the ‘Famiress’ was great and my husband enjoyed the ‘robot waitresses’.”
“It was really magical seeing the city from Mt Hakodate. Thank you gary we enjoyed every minute.”
“Really enjoyable tour. Saw Motomachi area and Morning market, where we fished for squid. Would recommend.”
“My family and I had the pleasure of a Hidden Hakodate Tour with Gary. We appreciated how well he engaged with every member of the party, from the history buff to the shoppers. We ended the day with karaoke and look forward to seeing him on The Voice.”
“We booked hidden Hakodate. The trams were great, and Gary organized everything down to giving us the fare we needed. Fantastic dango!”
“We spent the day with Gary in Hakodate. He picked us up from INSIDE the cruise terminal (unlike many others who have you meet them at a meeting point)! We had a fairly customizable request with extra time added and Gary accommodated us with no problem. We started with the Morning Market where he translated any food requests and helped us find local specialties, like squid. Then he took us to the Red Brick Warehouses where we shopped. A short walk, and we had a leather crafting experience and thrift/antique shopping. After, we walked up an amazing hill (think a mini San Francisco) with quaint houses and a beautiful view. Before taking the cable car to the top of the mountain, we had the COOLEST dining experience where we got to dine in an old home and sit on the floor, like you see in photos. Of course, breathtaking views once we got to the top of the mountain. After visiting the mountain we went to the Star Fort and walked around a bit. We ended our visit with a stroll through the area and an HOUR of Karaoke, which flew by. Gary dropped us off back at the cruise terminal where he chatted with us and watched the sunset with us. If you are looking for a small group tour, Gary was the best we could have asked for. I highly recommend!
Customization. Thoughtfulness. Easy to understand. Communicative. Knowledgeable.”
